The Interface between Materials
and Medicine
Thursday 4th March 2010
Technium Springboard, Cwmbran
12:20 - 16:30

Replacement hip and knee joints have brought relief from pain to many in recent years.   Dental treatment too has benefited from new materials and new technologies.   Underpinning these advances in the treatment of patients is research into joint movement and other previously unexplore areas, since it's only by understanding the nature of the challenge that full benefit can be derived from the novel materials that are available for use in these applications.   If you want to learn more about the interface between medicine and materials as well as European opportunities for technology transer in this and many other fields, make sure you register for this event by selecting the Diary of Events.

 MATERIALS NETWORK WALES

The aim of Materials Network Wales (MNW) is to contribute to the better understanding of usage and application of all engineering materials to the advantage of the Welsh economy.

The Network has three main objectives:

  • To raise industrial awareness, particularly in small and medium enterprises (SME's), of new technologies, new materials and new ways of using existing materials, and to encourage planning and investment.

  • To help Welsh manufacturing organisations become more profitable by promoting appropriate cross sectoral activity through collaboration with other sector fora and materials bodies.

  • To encourage interaction between research organisations and industry and networking within the various materials industry sectors
