CHAIRMAN'S CORNER

I am writing following a very successful prestigious event that the MTFW organised at the Deeside College.

The well attended event which focused on the Aerospace industry epitomised much of what the MTFW is striving to achieve in Wales: high profile presentations from industry and academia; technical and business opportunities, training needs, opportunities for extensive networking. You will find a review of the day in this bulletin and further information can be obtained from our website. Remember, that in addition to the prestigious event we run high profile events throughout the year.

On 2nd October, for instance, there is a Nanotechnology event at NEWI.We look forward to seeing you there.

In this bulletin the focus is on non-metallic materials. There are articles from the Composites Processing Association and Morganite Electrical Carbon Limited. Once again we are giving preference to companies who are members of MTFW. Recent surveys have indicated that these articles are well received and that the Bulletin is a very efficient and cost effective way of promoting your industry to the materials community throughout Wales.

Each Bulletin you are greeted with my picture on the front page. I am, however, supported by an excellent team in the Steering Group who arrange events, organise the Bulletin, maintain the website plus a host of other activities. It is time you met them. So this month we are including a photograph of the ‘team’ and some biographical details. At the same time, we are keen to attract new industrial members to our Steering Group. Do not be slow in coming forward and bringing new ideas for the MTFW to promote Chairman’s Corner

Other members of the steering group are: Hywel Evans, Laurence Griffiths, Professor Tony Moses and Clive Rees
